For those employed in working with children and/or young people in a variety of settings e.g. children's homes, foster care..

City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (children and young people)
Course content:
A series of workshops and workplace assessment visits.
The College will initially help you to identify the most appropriate Units by undertaking a skills match assessment with you. Throughout the course you will be supported by your assessor and guidance will be offered by the course tutor during the workshops based at college.
The course will include:
- Assessment planning
- Portfolio construction
- Feedback review
- Evidence gathering methods
- Underpinning knowledge
- Workplace observations
In order to achieve your award you are required to demonstrate a level of competence in 8 Units. 4 Units are mandatory and 4 are chosen appropriate to your current skills practiced within the workplace.
The level of competence is determined by the City and Guilds NVQ Standards and is achieved by collecting adequate evidence for the work you already do and producing a well documented portfolio, where the evidence can be tracked to the standards.
Where does the course lead?
You can choose to progress to NVQ level 4 if this is appropriate within your working role.
